Visit old Jamestown, Va. ship

The Godspeed arrived at the Newport Yachting Center earlier this week, kicking off six days of events commemorating America's 400th Anniversary.

Newport is the sixth and final port of call on an 80-day tour of six East Coast cities this summer that will bring the story of the journey that changed the world and the nation's birthplace in Jamestown, Va., to millions of Americans.

The boat will be available to visit at the Newport Yachting Center until July 30 from noon to 8 p.m. daily. All are invited to participate in a free Landing Party Festival that includes live theatrical and musical performances, costumed characters, and children's entertainment. Interactive displays and hands-on activities will help visitors learn about life in early Jamestown. Visitors can tour the Godspeed and take a "virtual voyage" in an on-shore simulator. All events are free to the public.
