Atwater Donnelly performs on Sunday

Summer Music in Jamestown continues at East Ferry's Veterans Memorial Square this Sunday, Aug. 6, at 6:30 p.m. Featured will be Atwater Donnelly, a Rhode Islandbased folk music duo who met as volunteers at the Stone Soup Coffee House in Providence in 1987 and have been singing together ever since. They have traveled widely here and abroad, studying and performing an impressive variety of folk and ethnic styles.

Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly present a concert of traditional Celtic ballads, dance tunes, a cappella pieces, sea chanties, and American songs, as well as original works. They blend unusual harmonies, and accompany themselves on guitar, mountain dulcimer, tin whistle, harmonica, banjo, spoons, bones, Australian monkey pods, rainstick, and other surprises. This concert will appeal to all ages, and audience participation is encouraged.

Admission is free. Those attending should bring beach chairs or blankets. The concert is sponsored by the Jamestown Press and Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department. In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Community Center, across the street.
