Murphy to address historical society
The Jamestown Historical Society will conduct its 2006 annual meeting on Thursday, Aug. 10, at 7 p.m., in the meeting room of the Jamestown library.
The featured speaker is John A. Murphy, local attorney, author, and humorist who will present "Reminiscences of Jamestown in the Nineteen Fifties." Murphy is the compiler of the Murphy's Law selection of amusing and thoughtful quotes that have appeared in each weekly issue of the Jamestown Press for more than a decade. In his recent book. "Murphy Was a Lawyer - and a Quahogger," his funny, quirky stories about law and lawyers are illustrated by cartoonist Don Bousquet.
Refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend, and to join the Jamestown Historical Society.
