Mike Lyons big band plays this Sunday

Summer Music in Jamestown continues on Sunday, Aug. 13, with the return of Mike Lyons And the Blue Moon Orchestra, a 17piece big band.

This group "wowed" the audience last summer in their Jamestown debut and is back by popular demand. The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. on East Ferry's Veterans Memorial Square.

After studying at Berklee College of Music, band leader Mike Lyons spent eight years as second trumpet and occasional singer with several jazz orchestras, before finding his own voice for big band classics, and especially Sinatra-style vocal arrangements. Mike has put together a swinging band that has delighted audiences around the state. It is sure to be a treat for the audience and the musicians alike when the Blue Moon Orchestra hits the stage again in Jamestown.

Bring beach chairs or blankets to memorial square this coming Sunday at 6:30 p.m. for a swinging evening by the bay. the event is sponsored by Integrated Management Solutions and 02835 Lifestyle. In case of rain, the show will go on in the Community Center, across the street.
