Daniel E. Lilly Sr., 65
Mr. Lilly graduated from Hope High School and Providence College. He worked for Del Monte foods for many years. A retired U. S. Air Force Reserve lieutenant colonel, he served as the director of logistics for the Rhode Island Air National Guard's 282nd Combat Communications Group in Coventry, and later served as an Air Force Reserve logistics augmentee to the U.S. Naval War College. In recent years, he held a variety of logistics posts as an individual mobilization augmentee in support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency's response to disasters in Guam, Florida, Louisiana, and New Hampshire.
He was a member of the Jamestown Shores Association and the Fort Wetherill Boat Owners' Association. He was a past member of the Jamestown Harbor Management Commission. He was an active volunteer with Jamestown Emergency Medical Services and a daily communicant at Saint Mark Church. All who knew him will miss him.
He enjoyed restoring vintage jeeps, with his friends the Jamestown Jeep Jockeys. He enjoyed boating, and lobstering. Mr. Lilly was caring and kindhearted, willing to help others in any way he could. Among other things, he spent many snowy days in his jeep plowing out friends and neighbors, earning him the title of Snow Ranger.
Mr. Lilly was the son of the late Mr. William E. Lilly and Elizabeth A. (Kearns) Lilly.
In addition to his wife and grandson, he is survived by a daughter, Tricia Hines and her husband Paul; a son, Daniel E. Lilly Jr. and his wife Jean T., all of Jamestown; and a twin sister, Patricia A. Connelly of Oak Bluffs, Mass.
