Michael Marshall of Jamestown is competing this week in the U.S. Sailing National Youth Championships, which are being held in Galveston, Texas, from Aug. 9 to 13. To qualify for the national event, Marshall finished in the top three in the Narragansett Bay youth single-handed events, and then took the top prize in the Buzzard's Bay regional youth sailing championships. Marshall is competing in the single-handed division, sailing a Laser.
