Red Cross needs volunteers to help soldiers and their families

The American Red Cross Rhode Island Chapter is currently looking for volunteers to help provide coverage for its Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) program 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Many families and members of the military rely on the American Red Cross AFES program to provide emergency communication when service members are overseas. In times of financial need or crisis, AFES volunteers and caseworkers are there to help by providing counseling, referrals, or help getting in touch with their loved ones.

Classes will be scheduled at the Red Cross offices in Middletown starting in the early

fall. Register for the course at the Red Cross office at 1015 Aquidneck Ave., in Middletown. For further information contact Sheila Keenan at 846-8100.
