Minor bridge explosion set for this morning

The state Department of Transportation has announced that a minor explosive event at the old Jamestown Bridge is set for today between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

State troopers will hold "rolling closures" by escorting blocks of traffic across the new bridge at low speeds while the demolition takes place. The entrance ramps to Route 138 will be closed at this time.

The closure will most likely not be longer than a half hour. If all goes as planned, the detonation will happen between 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
