Library adds hours, winter schedule starts this month

The trustees of the Jamestown library have announced the addition of two morning hours to the regular schedule of library service hours.

Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 19, the library will open on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.

Using funds provided by the library's state grant-in-aid, additional library assistants have been hired in order to make this possible. The change is in response to a survey conducted last December. "We will now be open 52 hours a week, plus Sunday hours. That is a healthy number of public service hours for a community as small as Jamestown,"

said Nancy Logan, chairwoman of the library board of trustees. "We hope to provide another opportunity for library services for those people who want to stop at the library before going home to dinner," Logan said.

The regular hours of the Jamestown library will now be:

Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; Thursday, noon to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.; and Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The library will also begin its Winter Saturday hours on Saturday, Sept. 16, and its Winter Sunday hours on Sunday, Sept. 17. For more information about the library, visit its Web page at www.jamestownri.com/library.
