Knights host doughnut fund-raiser on Sunday

The Saint Mark Knights of Columbus Council 9197 will hold a Krispy Kreme Doughnut fundraiser and Parish Social Sunday, Sept. 10, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church on Narragansett Avenue.

The Knights will have 75 dozen of the fresh Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts available for sale at $6 per dozen.

The Knights cordially invite parishioners and their families to stop down in the Church hall for complimentary coffee and soft drinks. Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts will be available at two for $1 in addition to a few dozen specialty doughnuts (featuring the crowd favorite chocolate-frosted with sprinkles) to sell for $1 apiece.

New membership campaign

The Knights are responding to a St. Mark Parish survey that indicated St. Mark parishioners overwhelmingly desired more frequent church "social" events that would allow churchgoers greater opportunities to meet each other and to enhance the parish community. Grand Knight David Nardolillo said the Knights plan to step up their parish role by sponsoring or co-sponsoring monthly parish events to include family dinners normally scheduled for Saturday nights in the church hall and the Krispy Kreme Socials on Sunday mornings. "We are open to new ideas from St. Mark parishioners and will do whatever we can to help Father Bill O'Neill and the Parish Council launch new church activities while continuing to sponsor and enhance our established functions."

Nardolillo noted that the Knights have recently launched a new membership campaign that will feature a 1st Degree ceremonial at St. Mark scheduled for later this month.
