Mosey on over to Heyday for some fun this weekend
The fun kicks off at 11 with the Jamestown Community Chorus performing songs about the farm, and the Community Band rousing the crowd with traditional favorites. "The Don Minto Farmhands, a multi-tasking family group whose members work the island's land trust farms will provide musical entertainment as well.
The auction will be conducted by John Biddle, who will encourage bidding for goods ranging from top-quality compost to award-winning marine photography. Also on the auction block will be plantings of rare shrubs and trees, fine jewelry, and wines. For those who don't want to bid too high, a raffle is also planned, with prizes of goods, services, and gift certificates donated by the island's businesses.
Great foods include the standard hot dogs and hamburgers. Stop at the stand selling hamburgers made from grass-fed, islandraised cattle, and other delicious offerings as well - including vegetable burgers.
Heyday is open to all. Dogs - even on leashes cannot be allowed in to Heyday, but people of all ages are encouraged to enjoy this event. Prizes will be awarded to people wearing great Heyday hats. The rain date for the event is Sept. 17.
