Dispositions from Newport District Court
+ Linda Adams, 64, of North Kingstown pleaded no contest to a charge of drunk driving Sept. 8. In a plea bargain, Adams pleaded no contest to an amended charge of reckless driving and the charge was filed for one year, police said, adding that she lost her license for 60 days and paid court costs.
+ Benjamin Coulter, 21, of Newport pleaded no contest Sept. 8 to a charge of driving with a suspended license. His driver's license was reinstated and the case dismissed upon payment of court costs, police said.
+ Steven Hackett, 23, of Middletown pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault and battery Sept. 15. Hackett was given a one-year suspended sentence, oneyear's
probation, and a no contact order. A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed under court rule 48A, police said.
+ Joseph McBride, 18, of Narragansett pleaded no contest Sept. 11 to a charge of possessing marijuana, a first offense. McBride was sentenced to six months at the Adult Correctional Institutions and ordered to pay court costs, police said.
+ Luke Verrier, 26, of 66 Pemberton Ave. pleaded no contest Sept. 8 to a charge of simple assault and battery. The charge was filed for one year, and Verrier was ordered to seek substance abuse counseling and pay court costs, police said. A charge of resisting arrest was dismissed, police said.
