Suspended license charged

Albert Becroft, 36, of Pawcatuck, Conn., was charged Sept. 17 with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop for speeding on Route 138.

Becroft is due to appear in Newport District Court Sept. 22, police said.

Shoplifter charged

Jean V. Seraichyk, 39, of 59 1/2 Melrose Ave. was picked up Sept. 14 at her home on a warrant for allegedly stealing a bottle of liquor from Grapes & Gourmet.

Seraichyk pleaded not guilty at her Sept. 15 arraignment and is due to appear in Newport District Court Sept. 22, police said.

Marijuana possession charged

Matthew Clemishaw, 18, of Warwick was charged Sept. 13 with possession of marijuana after police investigated his car parked at Ft. Wetherill. At his Sept. 14 arraignment, Clemishaw pleaded guilty and had the charge filed for one year. He was also ordered to pay court costs and make a contribution to the victims' compensation fund, police said.

Vandalism reported

A man from Garboard Street told police Sept. 16 that the telephone box on the outside of his house was destroyed.

Fraud reported

A man from Cole Street reported Sept. 14 that three withdrawals were made from his checking account. Each was for $99.99, police said.
