Helen F. Gilbane Gorman, 88
Helen Frances Gilbane Gorman, 88, of Hull Cove Farm Road died Oct. 5, 2006. She was the wife of the late Charles Woodbury Gorman Jr.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Francis and Marghretta (Lennon) Gilbane, she was a 45- year resident of Jamestown and had also lived in Rumford for many years. She was an alumna of Tolman High School and had attended Edgewood Park Jr. College in Briarcliff, N.Y. She was a member of the Handicraft Club of Providence, the Rumford and Jamestown Garden Clubs, the Pawtucket Jr. Women's Club, and the Conanicut Yacht Club. She was a volunteer for the Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown and had been a driver for Meals on Wheels.
She leaves three children, Charles Woodbury 'Skip' Gorman III of Grafton, N.H., Sally Cresser of East Greenwich, R.I., and Christopher Kennedy Gorman of Secaucus, N.J.; two sisters, Elizabeth Gilbane Keenan and Marghretta Gilbane Hogan, both of Rumford; and three grandchildren, Angus Woodbury Gorman, Rachel May Cresser, and Adam Cresser. She was the sister of the late Francis G. Gilbane Jr. and Mary Gilbane McGowen.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday in St Mark Church. Burial was private in St Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Children's Friends and Service, 153 Summer St., Providence RI 02903.
