BankNewport expands to North Kingstown

BankNewport announced last week its intention to open a new branch in North Kingstown, at the intersection of Routes 4 and 102, in the new Stop & Shop plaza across from Home Depot. This will be

the bank's first North Kingstown office and its 11th banking office overall. The branch is scheduled to open in the first half of 2007.

"We are excited about the opening of our newest branch location," said BankNewport President and CEO Thomas W. Kelly. "BankNewport has enjoyed a long history and solid reputation of serving our customers and our communities. We look forward to continuing our role as a true community partner and neighbor to the residents and businesses of North Kingstown and South County."

The new branch will be built on a parcel of land that was the former location of Fiddlesticks golf complex. The 4,500-square-foot branch will include three drive up banking lanes and two ATMs. It will be a full service branch, designed to provide a comfortable atmosphere for customers to conduct their personal and business banking, and will include consumer and commercial lending, mortgage origination, and insurance services.

Founded in 1819 and currently holding $1 billion in assets, BankNewport is an FDIC-insured savings bank. Along with its other OceanPoint Financial Partners - OceanPoint Insurance Agency, Inc., Smith Mack & Associates, Meredith & Clarke, and Narragansett Underwriting Group - BankNewport is proud to serve the financial needs of customers from banking and insurance offices located throughout southeastern New England.
