URI vocal ensemble concert scheduled for Nov. 4
A "Choral Collage" concert featuring the vocal ensembles of the University of Rhode Island will be offered at the university's Fine Arts Center Concert Hall in Kingston, on Saturday, Nov. 4. Scheduled for 8 p.m., the evening concert is designed to showcase each ensemble in performances of one or two sets of music apiece. The URI Concert Choir, the small vocal ensemble Lively Experiment, and the University Chorus will each participate.
The 48-voice Concert Choir, directed by Mark Conley, will be performing some contemporary arrangements of spirituals as well as three part songs by Edward Elgar: "The Dance," "The Snow," and "Lullaby." This group specializes in a variety of works from the Renaissance to the most contemporary, frequently performing before University and community audiences as well as on tour. Membership in the group is by audition.
The "Choral Collage" concert will be held in the Fine Arts Center Concert Hall off Upper College Road on URI's Kingston campus. Admission is $8 for the general public, $2 for students, with seating on a first-come basis. The box office opens 45 minutes before the concert.
