Scouts to collect food on Saturday

The Boy Scouts of Troop 1 Jamestown are getting ready for the annual Scouting For Food drive. All the food from this drive goes to St. Mark Church for distribution to needy families in the community.

Last weekend, the Scouts passed out bags to all the houses in the town.

This year the troop was short on bags and unable to cover every neighborhood, so anyone who did not receive a bag can use a standard paper or plastic grocery bag.

Place canned goods and nonperishable items in the bag and place the bag outside the front door or by the mailbox on Saturday, Nov. 4, by 9 a.m.

Make sure the bag is visible from the street so the adult drivers for the scouts know where to stop. For more information, call Dave Volpe, Scoutmaster at 423-2583.
