Church school contributes to Bowls event
Church school participants from Central Baptist Church have spent six weeks preparing and painting handcrafted bowls to contribute to the Empty Bowls 2006 project, which culminates Friday, Nov. 3, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Melrose Avenue School.
The annual international hunger relief project at the schools has been organized by teachers and staff under the leadership of Julia Montminy, Trish Van Cleef, and Liz Perez. They estimate there are close to 800 bowls for this year's event.
It was the inspiration and energy of Jamie Gardner, member and deacon of Central Baptist Church, to organize and co-ordinate the program. Assisting her have been Joy Osterbaunn, Michele Gibbs, and Tammy Fasano.
