The state Department of Transportation has announced that there will be an underwater demolition at the old Jamestown Bridge this morning at approximately 10:30 a.m.

The detonation will include one pier segment on the North Kingstown side of the bridge and one pier segment on the Jamestown side.

The DOT expects that there will be two more demolitions, both scheduled for the end of the month.

Traffic will be slowed by a "rolling block" formed by the Rhode Island State Police. They will move traffic very slowly across all travel lanes to momentarily clear traffic from the bridge.
