Photo by Jeff McDonough Disney Producers Brad Epstein and Jonathan Shestack were all smiles as they watched their efficient crew of professional filmmakers hard at work. They were erecting massive silks and reflectors to filter the morning sunlight through the windows of Riven Rock, the elegant home overlooking the West Passage of Narragansett Bay that was chosen for the Jamestown set of "Dan In Real Life," a Disney film being distributed by Touchstone Pictures.

"I don't know what to say," said Shestack. "I have nothing unusual or controversial to report. It's been a perfect shoot, like right out of the movies. The weather has been glorious. The only bad day we had was on our day off. The leaves held their color and managed to stay on the trees through the storm, and the temperatures have been comfortable. We love the house. The owners have been very co-operative, and such gracious hosts. We couldn't ask for more," he added.

"I thoroughly agree," said Epstein. "We started shooting on Halloween, so we're just finishing our first week. We're on schedule, and we only have good things to say. The town has made us feel very welcome, and the residents have respected our privacy. I was a little worried at first because you don't have a Starbucks anywhere close. But after discovering A Slice of Heaven, that concern went by the wayside," he said with a smile.

Epstein and Shestack are experienced veterans in the film business and share equal billing as producers of the Disney production. Epstein's credits include "Invincible," "Ladder 49," and "About a Boy" with Hugh Grant. He was also president of Robert DeNiro's production company, Tribeca films. Shestack's credits include "Air Force One," "Family Man," and "Bring It On," just to name a few.

"Dan in Real Life" is a romantic comedy starring Steve Carell ("Little Miss Sunshine," "The 40 Year Old Virgin," and "The Office") as a widower and father of three daughters who falls in love with a woman he soon learns is his brother's girlfriend.

The female lead is played by Juliette Binoche (Academy Award winner for "The English Patient"). She stars as the lovely woman Dan meets. Comedian Dane Cook ("Employee Of The Month") is his brother. Also starring are Oscarwinner Dianne Wiest ("Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Bullets Over Broadway"), John Mahoney of "Frasier" fame, and Alison Pill ("Pieces Of April").

"Dan In Real Life" is being directed by Peter Hedges and was written by Hedges and Pierce Gardner. Hedges previously wrote

and directed "Pieces Of April," and wrote screenplays for "About A Boy" as well as "What's Eating Gilbert Grape," based on his novel of the same title.

"We'll also be shooting at Lawn Avenue School for one weekend, and if all goes well, we'll wrap up filming in Jamestown somewhere around the middle to the end of December," said Scott Levine, publicist for the movie. "We'll keep you posted as shooting progresses," he added.
