Luminary kits on sale for Dec. 2 'starry night'

Following last year's highly successful inaugural event, The Jamestown Parent-Teacher Organization is sponsoring Jamestown's second annual "Starry Night," to be held this year on Dec. 2, the same night as the annual Tree Lighting. At 4:30

p.m., participating Jamestown businesses and residences will light up their walkways, steps, entrances, etc. with rows of luminaries provided by the PTO. The result promises to be a magical winter scene for pedestrians and other passers-by.

Jamestown residents will help to create an elegant winter scene by lighting their own walkways and curbsides.

Luminary kits are for sale at Slice of Heaven and the Melrose and Lawn Avenue school offices. Luminary kits from the PTO

include everything needed to make ten luminaries: ten white paper bags, ten tea lights and ten cups of sand. These luminaries safely burn for approximately 3- 4 hours and then self-extinguish. The cost of one luminary kit is ten dollars. Money raised from the

event will help fund the Cultural Arts Program, which brings in dancers, puppeteers, storytellers and other artists to enrich our students' educational experience. For more information call Liz Byrne at 423-1768.
