Museum holds holiday sale this weekend

The Newport Art Museum's Coleman Center for Creative Studies will hold a Faculty Holiday Sale on Friday, Nov. 17, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Gilbert S. Kahn Building located at 26 Liberty St., behind the museum.

The Griffon Shop will also hold a sale during those times in the John N.A. Griswold House.

This year's Faculty Holiday Sale showcases a splendid variety of goods. Some featured artists and their work include Charlene Carpenzano and Denise Caron Wilkey's ceramics and paintings, Julie Shoen's multimedia holiday pieces, Penelope Jackim's calligraphy items, Teresa Mowery's collection of metal jewelry with semi-precious stones, Trish Hurley's small oil landscapes, Natalie Pfanstiehl's watercolor pieces, and Carla Bosch's calendars and cards.

The Griffon Shop Holiday Sale will feature out-of-the ordinary consigned merchandise: china, glassware, silver, crystal, and jewelry are but a few of the treasures that will be on display.

Items featured in the sales are one-of-a-kind works of art or unique antiques. Drinks and refreshments will be available. The Newport Art Museum is located at 76 Bellevue Ave. Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday hours are noon to 4 p.m. For more information, call 848-8200 or visit www.newportartmuseum.com.
