Garden club decorates library
      "Our highest assurance of the goodness of Providence seems to me to rest in the flowers. All other things, our powers, our desires, our food, are all really necessary for our existence in the first instance. But this rose is an extra. Its smell and its color are an embellishment of life, not a condition of it.

Help the Lions help others
      The Jamestown Lions Club is a group of 33 local individuals who have come together to play an active role in the civic, social, and moral welfare of the Jamestown community. The Lions Club International, of which the Jamestown club is affiliated, is the largest civic organization in the world. Since 1953, the Jamestown Lions have been living up to the Lions motto, "We Serve.

Debris cleanup needed
      I am writing in regards to the storm of Saturday, Oct. 28t., the letters to the editor by Dr. Richard Robin (Nov.2) and Mr. Waller (Nov.9). At present, my concerns are very elementary. There has been debris, broken fences, and trash strewn along Beavertail Road at Mackerel Cove since that storm.

We love trees!
      This letter is written in response to the article in last week's Press regarding new plantings on the corner triangle at Walcott and High streets. There is an untold story that began on May 9, 2005 with an application for the America the Beautiful Grant with permission from then Town Administrator Mark Haddad. A year and a new town administrator later,the tree-planting issue began.
