Island girl will play Scrooge
The students enrolled in the drama program at St. Michael's Country Day School will be presenting Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Hill Arts and Athletics Center. Eighth-grader Mandi Thran of Jamestown will have the title role of the penny-pinching curmudgeon whose past comes back to haunt her as she tries to get some shut-eye on Christmas Eve. With the exception of two first-graders, who will appear in cameo roles as "Hunger" and "Ignorance," the rest of the cast will be from the sixth-through eighthgrades' drama class .
The performance is free and open to the public. The production is under the direction of Christina Johnston, head of St. Michael's drama department. Set design is by drama tech teacher Ellyn Eaves- Hileman and her students in the drama tech class.
