The hidden holidays
A few days ago, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport management removed all the Christmas trees from a holiday display in response to a rabbi’s request to add a giant Jewish menorah to the decorations. This is disturbing. Apparently, Rabbi Elazar Bogomilsky thought a prominently displayed giant menorah would give adequate Jewish representation to a Christian-oriented theme. More...

Jamestown’s annual re-creation of the nativity scene on Christmas Eve is missing a very important participant. There is no donkey. Hopefully, in the days leading up to this wonderful event, a donkey will be located and join the sheep and an ox in the manger scene. Stanley P. Brown, 89, of Newport died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Jeanne M. (Friend) Brown of Newport. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in October.
