A life-changing experience
      The Jamestown Lawn Avenue School held a contest for all eighth graders. The two winners would be lucky enough to go onto the set of “Dan In Real Life.” Everyone was so excited, and so was I, but no nearly as excited as what I was when my name was announced over the loud speaker. The very next day, Laura Katz and I would be on the set of “Dan In Real Life.

Memorable film set visit
      My name is Laura Katz and I am in the eighth grade at Lawn School. I was chosen by lottery to attend the filming of “Dan In Real Life,” at Lawn on a recent Saturday morning. Scott Levine greeted Lacey Segal, the other student chosen, Dr. Power and me. Lacey and I exchanged anxious giggles and went our way following him through the courtyard.

Thanks for helping shoppers
      I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated in our Young Shoppers store that was held last week for the students of the Jamestown schools. This store gives children the opportunity to shop for family, friends, and pets at very affordable prices. A big thanks to Wendy Rafferty, Robin Tregenza and Madison Tregenza. Their help was tremendous.

Sixth farming year a success
      This year completes six years at the Jamestown Community Farm. Once again, we had a very successful year with both excellent vegetables and excellent volunteers. Since we began the farm in 2000, we have grown and distributed over 72,000 pounds, 36 tons, of fresh vegetables to people in need. This could not have happened without the generous contributions of time and labor from so many volunteers.
