BankNewport collecting art supplies

The community is invited to join BankNewport in “Giving the Gift of Color” this holiday season to support the Women’s Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties’ “Kids Art Therapy Program.” BankNewport will be collecting art supplies at all branch locations now through Jan. 6, 2007.

Stop by the nearest BankNewport branch to drop off art supplies such as such as markers, glue sticks, modelling clay, crayons,

chalk, and colored pencils. All of the items have been requested by the teachers and youths participating in the “Kids Art Therapy Program.” Donated items must be in the original packaging. A complete list of the art supplies requested, along with collection receptacles, is on display now at all BankNewport branches throughout Newport and Bristol Counties.

The Women’s Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties serves victims of domestic violence through critical support services. WRC creates opportunities for individual change and empowerment through support, advocacy, education and training. WRC promotes positive legislative political and social change as they work toward eradicating domestic violence in our community. Through art, children who witness domestic violence are able to express their feelings about these traumatic events, which perhaps they have no words for, only pictures.
