Tennis hall of fame has holiday event Saturday
On Saturday, Dec. 16, the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport will open its museum doors to the public and offer free admission to all visitors for the day.
In addition, the hall of fame will also be conducting a fun — and free — program entitled “Deck the Hall” as part of its Christmas in Newport activities. The Newport Casino, a National
Historic Landmark and home to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, has been elegantly decorated inside and out for the holiday season. The world-class museum gives visitors the opportunity to walk through tennis history and experience the story of tennis illustrated by interactive exhibits, extraordinary videos and popular memorabilia of the sport’s greatest champions and the stars of today. Doors open at 9:30 a.m.
In conjunction with Christmas in Newport activities, the hall of fame is offering a family program dubbed “Deck the Hall.” Between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, kids of all ages can stop in anytime and enjoy creating a tennis-themed holiday ornament to take home, give as a gift, or place on the hall of fame’s Community Holiday Tree. Festive cookies and fruit punch will be available. To participate in the Deck the Hall activity, children must be accompanied by an adult.
The International Tennis Hall of Fame is located at 194 Bellevue Ave. in the heart of historic Newport. The Hall of Fame Museum is open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed only on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Regular museum admission is $9 for adults, $5 for children 16 and under, $7 for seniors/military/students with ID, and $23 for a family.
