More folks to thank
I would like to thank you for the lovely article last week about one of our new Potter League for Animals volunteers, Patricia Sumner and her dog Worf.
Pat came to us interested in Animal Assisted Activities, and we placed her in one of our great programs called “Reading Fur Fun.” This program matches a volunteer and a doggie partner to a reluctant reader. Pat and Worf are working with a great group of boys who eagerly look forward to their visit every week.
The Potter League is always in need of volunteers with outgoing and well-behaved dogs for this program as well as other Animal Assisted Activities, including visits to nursing homes and the Newport Hospital. The Potter League facilitates these programs and helps the volunteer team complete the requirements to become certified.
Anyone interested in more information can contact the Potter League at 846-8276 or joyceb@ potterleague.org.
