Bruce E. Engelhard, 52
Bruce Edward Engelhard, 52, of Jamestown died quietly at home Dec. 18, 2006 surrounded by family after a two and a half year battle with colon cancer. He was the beloved husband of Missy (Mary L. Wright) Engelhard for 29 years.
Born in Groton, Mass., a son of Donald G. and Jane (Peregrine) Engelhard of Cincinnati, Ohio, he grew up in Park Ridge, Ill., and Cincinnati, Ohio.
He received a bachelor’s degree in math from Ohio Wesleyan University, a MAT from Gordon- Conwell Theological Seminary, and a MAT in math education from Providence College.
Bruce was a math teacher in the Jamestown School for nine years and previously taught at the Newport Alternative School, Carachipampa Christian School in Cochabamaba, Bolivia, Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, W. Va., and Milford High School in Milford, Ohio.
Bruce was an active member of Central Baptist Church in Jamestown, where he was on a number of boards over the years and was integrally involved in the musical life of the church. He was involved in the Jamestown Community Theatre, the Jamestown Community Band, and the CBC Players. Bruce was a member of NCTM and RIMTA.
Besides his wife and parents, he leaves three sons, Seth P. Engelhard and his wife Coley E. Lehman of Portland, Ore., David C. Engelhard of Minneapolis, Minn., and Chris W. Engelhard of Jamestown; a daughter, Ruth (Engelhard) Burke and her husband Chris E. Burke of North Kingstown; siblings, Kathy Coates, David Engelhard, and Sally Reinders, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; many inlaws, nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
