Hot Latin dance Thursday nights
The Jamestown Department of Parks and Recreation will be starting three new adult dance classes on Thursday evenings at the Community Center after the first of the year.
Latin Workout will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and a partner is not necessary. Start the dance lesson with easy moves to fun Latin music. Participants will learn how to find and move to the beat. They should bring comfortable clothes and shoes that allow for the swivels and turns of the merengue, cha-cha, rhumba, and salsa.
The Salsa/Ballroom class will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This class is an introduction to salsa, swing, foxtrot, and waltz. This class is perfect for wedding preparation for the bride and groom, and their families too. Learn basic steps and the skill of leading and following in partner dancing.
Finally, tango lessons will end the evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Tango is a dance that is sweeping the country and the world. Connection and communication between the partner are very important element in tango dancing. Lessons start with the walk, embrace, finding then dancing to the beat. This is introductory class in authentic Argentinean Tango for complete beginners. All three classes are taught by Kana Kubota, who has taught dance all over the country.
