Annual island art show coming in July

Artists are invited to participate in the annual Conanicut Island Art Association Art Show to be held at the Community Center July 19 to 23.

At the opening reception, which will be held Wednesday, July 19, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., everyone will have a chance to vote on a Peoples' Choice Award for the most popular piece of work.

David Barnes, instructor of painting and drawing at the Newport Art Museum, will serve as juror for the show and will award cash prizes, ranging from $25 for an honorable mention to $500 for Best-in-Show. The winners will be announced at the reception.

The show will run each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and admission is free.
