Sutton to be honored

Robert Sutton, Jamestown's first town administrator, who has been active in many areas of the community, including farm preservation, will be honored Friday, Oct. 6, as the Rhode Island State Grange Agriculturalist of 2006.

The Town Council Monday ratified a call to invite and encourage all residents to attend the celebration, which starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Newport Inn and Spa on West Main Road in Middletown.

The honor is being conferred by the Rhode Island State Grange Agricultural Department as part of the state grange's annual session. Sutton was nominated for the designation by Conanicut Grange 21.
