Domestic assault charged

Amy H. Burton, 37, of 37 Hawthorne Rd. was charged with one count of domestic simple assault and battery after an incident in her home.

Police said Burton is scheduled to appear Oct. 14 in Newport District Court for a pre-trial hearing.

Breaking and entering

A person reported seeing a man rip a screen door off and attempt to enter a house at 28 Luther St.

The perpetrator fled when he realized someone saw him, according to police.
