Fire department to hold open house on Oct. 12

The Jamestown Fire Department will hold an open house Saturday, Oct. 21, from noon to 2 p.m.

Attendees will have an opportunity to talk to the all-volunteer department's Membership Committee and find out all the details on how to join and how they can help. The department needs help with fire department committees and other business related functions. Department members are young, old, male, and female. Members don not have to be a full-fledged firefighters to help.

+ Bring the kids. Firefighters will demonstrate gear for the kids, talk about the fire apparatus and fire safety and prevention.

+ Meet the members of the fire department. The firefighters will answer any questions that attendees might have about fire safety and prevention, becoming a department member, who they are and what they do.

+Visit the museum. Come learn about the history of the Jamestown Fire Department and see vintage fire apparatus and memorabilia.

There will be refreshments and goodies for the kids.
