Police Log

Drunk driving charged

+ Shane Patrick Leach, 24, of Ivoryton, Conn., was charged with drunk driving Monday, Oct. 9, after a motor vehicle investigation on the corner of Walcott and Hamilton avenues.

Leach is scheduled for a pretrial hearing Oct. 20, police said.

+ John G. Mischler, 28, of Narragansett was charged with drunk driving Friday, Oct. 7, after a traffic stop on North Main Road. Police said Mischler refused to take a Breathalyzer test. He is scheduled to appear Oct. 20 in Newport District Court, police said.

+ Samuel Baugh, 53, of 73 Carr Lane, was charged with drunk driving after a caller reported seeing him driving erratically on Conanicus Avenue. Baugh is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Oct. 20 in Newport District Court, police said.

Picked up on warrant

+ Kathleen Champagne, 18, of 10 Narragansett Ave., was picked up Monday, Oct. 9, on a district

court bench warrant. She is scheduled to appear for a review hearing Oct. 13, police said.

+ Jason Leone, 35, of Block Island was picked up by Jamestown police on a warrant from West Warwick. Leone was transferred to that town, police said.

Suspended license charged

Patrick S. Daniels, 23, of Pawling, N.Y., was charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Route 138. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 13 in Newport District Court, police said.

Driving without a license

Peou Ngiem, of Lynn, Mass. was charged with driving without a license after a traffic stop on Tashtassuc Road. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 13, police said.

Burglary reported

A resident of Green Lane told police Oct. 9 that a computer worth $900 and a Sony Playstation II were taken from the unlocked house.

Attempted burglary reported

A Hamilton Avenue resident told police Monday, Oct. 9, that someone took a fireplace shovel and used it to cut a window screen. Items beneath the window were knocked over, but police said it appeared that entry to the house was not gained.

License plate stolen

A Jamestown resident told police Oct. 6 that his license plate was taken while the car was parked in North Kingstown.

Vandalism reported

+ A resident of Walnut Street told police Monday, Oct. 9, that his mailbox and newspaper boxes were damaged.

+ A Lawn Avenue resident reported Oct. 8 that a bench and decorative lawn object had been tipped over.

Fraud reported

A resident of Clarke Street told police Oct. 5 that they were receiving magazine subscriptions and bills for magazines they did not order.
