Prepare for the spooky Boy Scout pumpkin display
The third annual Troop 1 Pumpkin Spooktacular will be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, from 5 to 9 p.m. each night.
Previous spooktaculars have been very successful with some 385 people coming to see nearly 200 carved pumpkins.
All pumpkins are carved by members of Troop 1.
As with their annual Pasta Supper, the funds raised through the Pumpkin Spooktacular go to the troop to help pay for camping and equipment. Smaller fund-raisers, like the sale of wreaths, yard sales, and car washes, go to individual troop members to help defray the cost of Camp Yawgoog or adventure trips.
The Pumpkin Spooktacular is a great community event with
local businesses sponsoring pumpkins to help defray the costs. The show is
always free, but
donations are accepted at the gate. Anyone can carve a pumpkin to be exhibited in the annual event. Bring the carved pumpkin, along with two votive candles, to 30 Beach Ave., beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the evening or all day Oct. 26.
People attending the event can vote for their favorite
pumpkins in several categories like Best in Show, Scariest, and Funniest. Follow
the signs to 30 Beach Ave. for this fun family event, which will be held rain
or shine.
