Florence "Blossom" Cole

Florence "Blossom" (Fahrig) Cole, formerly of Grinnell Street, passed away Thursday, Oct. 19, 2006 at the Grand Islander Nursing Home in Middletown. She was the wife of the late Francis "Frank" S. Cole Jr.

Born in Washburn, Wis., a daughter of the late Harry and Florence (Short) Fahrig, she lived in Missouri before residing in Providence for 50 years. She summered in Jamestown for 40 years until 1992 when she permanently moved to the island. Mrs. Cole attended the University of Arkansas where she became a member of Tri Delta Sorority.

She had worked as a secretary at Moses Brown in college admissions for 10 years.

Mrs. Cole leaves her two sons, Dr. F. Sessions Cole III of St. Louis, Mo. and Harry F. Cole of Vienna, Va.; a sister, Rebecca Landrum of Farmington, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Elisabeth, Emily, Tucker and Wiley Cole. She was the sister of the late Richard Fahrig and Harriet Emmer.

Her funeral and burial will be private. Memorial contributions to the Jamestown Fire Department, 50 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, RI will be appreciated.
