Thank you, Jamestown

I have always felt that Jamestown and the people who live here are special. Last week when my husband, Mo, passed away, I found that it is a very special place with very special people. The outpouring of sympathy, caring, and support was overwhelming. I want you to know that the support from all of you has helped me to get through a very difficult time.

The people that came with the ambulance were kind, compassionate, and understanding. They helped me through a very upsetting morning and I really appreciate it. A big thanks to those of you who sang at Mo's funeral mass. I'm sure you know how much music means to me, and your voices touched the strings of my heart. I could feel the energy and support that

you directed at me when I was singing. I know that it helped give me the strength to grant one of Mo's wishes. One of his other wishes was granted when the congregation sang "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," with a gusto that vibrated throughout the church and gave him the final sendoff that he wanted.

Mo loved Jamestown, and after this past week, it appears that Jamestown cared for him. Let's face it! You just have to love a man who appeared as the Executioner on stage in an outlandish costume because his wife was involved with the theatre and who wore a red tie with penguins on it just because his wife liked penguins. Thank you all,

Patty Vandal,

Jamestown
