Veterans Day ceremonies set The island veterans groups will commemorate Veterans Day with a ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. at East Ferry Veterans Memorial Square. Bruce Livingston, a retired Marine colonel, will give a talk on the history of the day that brought an end to World War I. The memorial flags, 84 of them, will be put up in the square, beginning at 7 a.m. The veterans would appreciate assistance from any volunteers who want to help put up the flags or take them down later in the afternoon. The event is co-sponsored by the VFW Memorial Post 9447 and American Legion Arnold-Zweir Post 22. |
