Super gardeners
For the tenth anniversary of their annual Sunflower Contest, the owners of the Secret Garden submitted the identities of those whose green thumbs surpassed other islanders for the entire 10 years of the contest. The tallest bloom ever was grown by Cara Liberati (top) in 2004, which topped out at 12-feet, 10-inches, and the widest bloom went to Ken Lombardo, who in 2005, grew a flower 20 1/2-inches across.
