Spooktacular thanks to all

The third annual Pumpkin Spooktacular was well attended last Friday evening, drawing over 300 viewers. Although it has rained the last two years, the show still went on. This past Saturday's weather was extreme, and our concern for the safety of the volunteers and the viewers caused us to cancel Saturday's show.

We would like to thank our local business sponsors for their donations to help the Boy Scouts of Troop 1 Jamestown: Ace's Pizza, Baker's Pharmacy, J.H. Breakell & Company, Central Garage, A.S. Clarke Excavating, Conanicut Marine Services, Lila Delman Real Estate, Del Nero Cleaners, East Ferry Deli, Dr. C. Matthew Forster, DMD, Focus Real Estate Group, Grapes & Gourmet, House of Pizza, Island Realty, Jack's Electric, Jamestown Animal Clinic. Jamestown Boat Yard, Jamestown Early Learning, Jamestown True Value Hardware, Livingston Marine Assoc., Morneau & Murphy, Ocean State Scuba, and Video Showcase. These local businesses always help to support Troop 1 and their generosity is truly appreciated. Thanks to Mr. K and Mrs. Sweet, and Mr. Schlachter for lending us props for the Mad Doctor's Lab. I would like to thank Harry Chase for all his help before and especially after the show. We would also like to give a special thankyou to Quonset View Farms in Portsmouth, who generously donated the pumpkins to Troop1 and made this show possible.

The winner selected by ballot for 'Best In Show ' was the dragon by Norma Walsh, 'Scariest 'was the Pumpkin Eating Her Young by Kathy Brownell, and 'Funniest ' was the painted cow by Merrill Nelson Lee. The pumpkins entered by the many friends and families of the Boy Scouts are what make this show so special. Without the combined effort of the many pumpkin carvers in Jamestown we would not be able to produce such a Spooktacular show. We appreciate all the work that everyone did in our behalf.

The raffle winner of the framed photograph of the Jamestown Bridge "Before and After," donated by Kathy Brownell, was Whitney Marzano, Deb Richards won the 3 foot Inflatable Pumpkin. Rachel Warner won dinner at Ace's and a movie rental from Video Showcase. Sam won a House of Pizza gift certificate and a movie rental from Video Showcase. Marah Campbell also won a House of Pizza gift certificate and a movie rental from Video Showcase, and the Nelson-Lee's won the Trick or Treat Bucket and a Video Showcase movie rental. Again we wish to thank the businesses that donated prizes for our raffle.

The "Pumpkin Spooktacular" is a combined effort by many people, and all of their efforts are appreciated. So thank-you to all who helped make this "Spooktacular" happen and all the people who attended and made this show successful. See you next year!

Maryann Carr Toppa,

Jamestown
