Play based on Anne Frank diary upcoming for spring JCT show

The Jamestown Community Theatre has announced that its spring play will be a small musical entitled "Yours, Anne."

Based on "Anne Frank: The Diary Of A Young Girl," this musical will be directed by Mary Wright with the assistance of Donna Gavin, Maria Liebhauser, and Iris Bohensky. The music director will be Becky Brazil.

Performance dates will be the weekends of March 2 and 9 at a location to be announced.

Rehearsals begin Sunday, Jan. 7, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Auditions will be at the Jamestown Community Center on Sunday, Dec. 17. Those trying for a leading role must be accomplished singers and performers. For lead roles, bring a song to sing and sheet music that shows vocal range and ability. A monologue will be provided at the audition. Anyone auditioning for a peripheral role should memorize a serious poem of at least 15 lines.

Cast members will be needed to fill the following roles: Anne, a girl of about 13 years old, her older sister, Margot, who is a little older than Anne, Mr. and Mrs. Frank, Mr. and Mrs. Van Dan,

who are another family sharing the attic space. Other cast members are the Van Dan's son Peter, who is a bit older than Anne, and Mr. Dussel, a dentist. In addition, a few children ages 10 to 16 will be cast in peripheral roles reciting poetry between some scenes.
