More festive holiday events are upcoming in December
Saturday, Dec. 9
Santa Claus and his elves make the rounds of the south end of the island on board a fire truck. Anyone who pops out of their house to greet Santa, will be treated to a holiday treat. Look for him between 9 and noon.
Sunday, Dec. 10
The Polar Express
Take a trolley ride through Jamestown while singing carols and listening to a reading of Chris van Allsburg's "The Polar Express." Make a final stop at Jamestown's very own "North Pole" to see Santa. The trolley departs from East Ferry at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by Jack's Electric. Tickets cost $1 per person and may be purchased at Jamestown Designs, 17 Narragansett Ave. Phone orders will not be accepted.

Friday, Dec. 15
Teen Holiday Party: A festive and alcohol-free event for Jamestown's teens, at the Portuguese American Citizens' Club, 134 Narragansett Ave. Music, snacks, "mocktails," and holiday desserts. Sponsored by the Jamestown Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force.
Saturday, Dec. 16
Teddy Bear Tea : Join Mrs. Claus for an elegant afternoon at the Bay Voyage, 150 Conanicus Ave., with tea, cookies, story readings, and a special gift for all. Sittings at 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Sponsored by Rabecca L. Eunis, CPA. Open to children ages 4 and older. No age requirements for teddy bears. Tickets cost $1 per person and may be purchased at Jamestown Designs, 17 Narragansett Ave. Phone orders will not be accepted.
Sunday, Dec. 17
Holiday Dog Parade: Join Jamestown's furry friends as they parade down Narragansett Avenue in their holiday finery. Parade begins at 1 p.m. at the fire station, 50 Narragansett Ave. Music will be provided by the Jamestown Community Band and of course, Santa will be there. The event is sponsored by Paws & Claws, 23 Narragansett Ave. Contact Paws & Claws at 423-9677 to register a pet. Proceeds benefit the Jamestown Senior Pet Fund. In the event of major rain or snow, the event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 23.
Thursday, Dec. 21
Santa Claus visits the fire station and will listen to everyone's wish list. All children who come out to see Santa, beginning at 6:30 p.m., will receive a special gift from the elves at the North Pole.
