Garden club to end season with holiday fete

The Quononoquott Garden Club will meet for the last time this year on Monday, Dec. 11, at 10:30 a.m. at the Jamestown library. The membership will reconvene in April, 2007, with a Spring Tea for members as well as potential ones.

Club President Gloria Westlake, will look back at some of 2006's civic projects - installation of the fire station museum garden, planting downtown barrels with annuals in the spring and Christmas greens in November, planting 500 daffodil bulbs at the Community Center, helping first-grade students plant more bulbs at the Melrose school, and sponsoring the Downtown Beautification and Christmas Decorations contests.

The day will be capped by an evening holiday celebration at the home of Barbara and Lee Tuthill. Each member is asked to bring a garden-related item for the silent auction. Proceeds from the auction will fund another civic beautification project.
