Grasshopper book leaping off local shelves for holidays

Island resident Jeanne Archambault has just published a children's picture book called "The Leaping Grasshopper," which is colorfully illustrated by Dwight Smith, also of Jamestown.

The book follows the high-jumping antics of the grasshopper who leaps vigorously across each page as he visits the various animals that live in his neighborhood. Things are going along well for the grasshopper until he meets the cat. We won't spoil the ending.

This is the second picture book for Archambault, the mother of four daughters, and grandmother of six who published "Larry the Lawnmower" in 2004, which was illustrated by island artist Victoria Corey.

Archambault said that some copies of the popular 'Larry" are still available in local shops, and that "The Leaping Grasshopper," hot off the presses, is for sale at R&R Gallery, Jamestown Designs, and the Secret Garden.

For sales information, e-mail Archambault at jitterbugbooks@cox.net.
