Visit the Newport mansions this Christmas

The Preservation Society of Newport County has dressed up three of the gilded-age mansions for the holiday season.

The Breakers, Marble House and the Elms Yuletide finery, with thousands of poinsettia plants, spectacular evergreens, trees, wreaths and fresh flowers. Dining tables are set with period silver and china and mannequins dressed in authentic costumes complete the elegant setting. All three houses are open daily for tours through Jan. 1.

On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Marble House and the Elms can be seen in the evening as a twofor one package. The self guided tours run from 6 to 9 p.m. and will be accompanied by music.

Holiday evening tickets are $25 for adults in advance or $30 at the door.
