Drunk driving charged
Joseph A. Mendelsohn, 18, of 29 Marine Ave. was charged with drunk driving Jan. 1 at 12:30 a.m. after a traffic stop for driving erratically on Route 138.
Mendelsohn is scheduled to appear Jan. 5 in Newport District Court, police said. Charged with buying alcohol
for a minor
Steven Hackett, 23, of Middletown was charged Jan. 1 with buying alcohol for his juvenile girlfriend, a Jamestown resident, after the girlfriend’s mother reported him to police. Hackett got into a car accident in which the girl was a passenger, police said.
Hackett is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Jan. 5 in Newport District Court, police said.
Picked up on warrants
Adam Jackson, 37, of North Kingstown was charged Dec. 30 on outstanding warrants after a traffic stop on the Jamestown Bridge.
Jackson was taken to the Adult Correctional Institutions, police said.
Suspended license charged
Matthew Medeiros, 21, of North Kingstown was charged Dec. 24 with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on North Main Road.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Jan. 5 in Newport District Court, police said.
Vandalism reported
A resident of Boom Street told police Jan. 2 that his mailbox was tipped over, noodle soup was thrown on the windshield of his car, the lawn was toilet papered and a liquor bottle was thrown on the property.
Larcenies reported
• A woman from Beacon Avenue told police Dec. 31 that her former boyfriend took back all of her holiday gifts and moved out.
• A Shoreby Hill resident told police Dec. 24 that about 250 light bulbs were taken from the decorated tree on the Shoreby Hill Green. Each bulb was unscrewed from the string of lights, police said.
