Teen activities scheduled

Members of the Newport County Youth Council invites all high school students to join them to work on issues relating to world hunger and poverty, local recycling programs, entertainment events and more.

The NCYC is the voice of youth leadership in Newport County and a peer support network working to effect positive change on issues of concern to youth. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center in Newport.

Transportation is provided from Jamestown for any interested students. The van leaves the Community Center at 4 p.m. and students will be dropped off at their homes after the meeting. Contact Teen Coordinator Melissa Minto for more information at jamestownteens@ yahoo.com or call 741-0562.

All high school students are also invited for a night of ice-skating at the Newport Yachting Center in Newport on Friday, Jan. 26. The cost of the trip is $7 or $12 including skate rental.
