Parents learning to live with teens

The Jamestown Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force, the Jamestown Teen Center, the Jamestown PTO, & CODAC Behavioral Health Care present "Parent Survivor Night," on Tuesday, Jan. 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Melrose Avenue School.

Part II of CODAC's Community Empowerment Program will explore issues related to adolescent behavioral development, youth substance abuse, and violence prevention. Parents are invited to the following special presentation that considers "normal" adolescent behavior and talk about what to do if a child seems to be moving into the "danger zone." Learn how to talk with- and listen to- adolescents to develop more effective ways of communicating.

Bob Kendall, of Creative Options, Inc., is a behavioral specialist in the East Greenwich School District and has over 25 years of experience providing support services to youth and families.

Nora Santamour is a behavioral specialist and youth psychologist with the East Greenwich School District and a resident of Jamestown. She is also a member of the Jamestown Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force.

Refreshments will be served. For child care, which is available with a 24-hour notice, call Wendy Rafferty at 423-8080. Pizza and a movie will be provided for children in care.
